Welcome, Derek Soucy

Please join us in welcoming Derek Soucy to the Healthy Acadia team! 

Derek joins us as a recovery coach through our Maine Recovery Core internship program. Recovery Core Interns offer direct peer support to improve recovery success among individuals facing substance use disorders. Derek provides recovery coaching and recovery resource navigation in Kennebec County through Maine Re-EntryNetwork (MERN).

Derek, what prompted you to join the Healthy Acadia team?

To be of service in the community where I reside.

What most inspires you about Healthy Acadia's work? 

To utilize my skills and help some of the most vulnerable people in my community.

What most inspires you on a personal level?

Working on and achieving goals toward a better life.

What is your favorite thing to do, or place to be, in Maine, and why?

In his free time, Derek enjoys camping and engaging in outdoor activities and sports, including tennis and snowshoeing.

Derek graduated from Medomak Valley High School and served with the United States Navy, from which he was honorably discharged. He is in his second year of working toward earning certification as an Intentional Peer Support Specialist (CIPSS). Derek currently resides in Gardiner, with his cat, which he adores.

On Derek’s bucket list - “I would like to return to Italy where I was stationed.”
