Farm to School programs are one
way to help counteract the negative trends in children's health and the
growing challenges to the viabillity of local farms.
Healthy Acadia is working in two counties to make direct
connections between farms and schools that benefit farmers,
children, and the community.
In a food system where locally produced
foods often cost more than their conventional counterparts, Farm to School
is one way to extend the reach of local foods to more local people, including
those who have lower income.
