Celebrating Black History

Black History Month, also known as African American History Month, is celebrated annually in the United States. All month long, we hope you’ll join us in exploring ways to recognize, honor, and celebrate the achievements and contributions of Black people throughout history. Here are some ways to honor Black History Month:

  • Educate yourself: Read books, watch documentaries, and attend events that highlight the contributions of Black people to history, culture, and society.

  • Support Black-owned businesses: Take the time to discover and support Black-owned businesses in your community, and spread the word about them to your network.

  • Attend events: Look for events and activities in your community that are celebrating Black History Month, and take part in them to show your support.

  • Celebrate Black artists and musicians: Check out the work of Black artists, musicians, and writers, and support their work by purchasing their albums, books, works of art, or attending their performances.

  • Use social media: Use your social media platforms to amplify Black voices and share information and resources related to Black history and culture.

  • Donate to organizations: Consider making a donation to organizations that support the Black community and work to promote Black history and culture.

  • Talk with your children: Have conversations with your children about the importance of Black history, and encourage them to learn more about the achievements and contributions of Black people.

It’s important to honor Black History Month not just during the month of February, but all year round. By taking the time to educate ourselves, celebrate, and support the Black community, we can work to promote understanding and unity.
