WinterKids + Let's Go! + SNAP-Ed = Winter Fun!

As participants in WinterKids Olympics 2022, the Cherryfield Elementary School Lions and the Jonesport Elementary School Seahawks are learning and practicing healthy eating and active living with the help of Healthy Acadia’s Let’s Go! and SNAP-Ed team.

This winter students in grades Pre-K through 8, from both schools, gathered for full-school assemblies to learn the importance of nutrition, exercise, and getting outside to play to keep their bodies strong and healthy.

Students and staff at Jonesport Elementary School learned about the importance of daily mindfulness practice, the health benefits of eating fiber-rich foods such as veggies, fruits, and whole grains, and reducing their recreational screen time. Students were challenged to try sugar-free Rose tea and were given their own vegetable seeds to plant. Cherryfield Elementary School students received a visit from their “Snack Lady” on Family Fun Day. Healthy snacks, building snowmen, and the laughter of children is what WinterKids and - Winter Fun -is all about!

Good Luck to Cherryfield & Jonesport Elementary School from the Healthy Acadia Team on achieving high scores in the WinterKids Olympics 2022. You are all winners in our eyes!
